Three decades later he's still driving passengers, guiding tourists and has published his own book, My Fare City, where he celebrates some of its lesser known characters. Those include the incomparable Dora Noyce, who ran her house of ill repute with nothing but good manners and true Edinburgh grace, and James Steel, the master forger who was only supplementing his age old pension with ten pence coins when the courts threw him in prison at the age of 67.
