JudeDohertyBigJude produces theatre in unusual places, and places are something she cares and is stubborn about. Jude famously got the Department of Transport to temporarily change the law on airside borders at Edinburgh Airport for two hours every day in order to stage the award-winning play Roam. And a few years back she chased the City Council until they let her into an abandoned underground building, now one of the most successful festival venues, Underbelly.

"Every time we do a show abroad I think I could move there but then I come back to this city and fall in love with it all over again. Years ago I saw the comedian Spike Milligan being interviewed on TV for the Edinburgh Show and he said this was the most exciting place to be. I knew then I had to live here. The Broughton area is my spiritual home in Edinburgh, and I need to be within shooting distance of the Barony Bar...
